In one case, the house was being used explicitly as a protest group space. That one was obvious. The targeting on the others is unclear; as best I can tell as not a laywer and not there, they were attempting to find specific people who were couchsurfing. I unfortunately don't have information about how they got inside. The I-Witness people obviously refused to let them inside; I have read that a battering ram was involved and I think that's in one of the links above. (At that point they did have a warrant, according to that source.) I think that the conspiracy was thought to have happened online and thus seizing all the computers.
