Jeanette Winterson is one of my favourite authors and Written on the Body is possibly my favourite of her work. If you're looking to read more by her, you should definitely check out her first novel, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. It's a very different novel, but it still constantly challenges you - all her work does.
