So Egypt Urnash (a woman of many names) has put together a tarot deck that she calls the Silicon Dawn Tarot. You can peruse the tarot online at http://egypt.urnash.com/tarot/ and I do recommend you do if you have any interest in Tarot, illustration, or animal-people. If you're in the greater Boston area, though, I recommend going to see them in person at full size at Space 242, which just had a gallery opening yesterday called "78 Evasions" displaying the 78 standard cards of the deck: A-10 and court of each suit, 20 major arcana, Fool, and Universe (in place of World). The website will show you a few more that will end up in the final-final deck as well as blank spaces for those Ms. Urnash plans to complete; you can also buy a poster that adds in History and the Void. A digital viewing, while worth your fifteen minutes, does not do these justice; some of the smaller details are only noticeable when you're staring at a 24x36" print and saying "Whoah." Also, staring at them all laid out in a studio is quite the experience; you can really see some of the patterns she put in that might not be apparent just flipping through them online.

However, there's a challenge to going to see them; the gallery is only open "by appointment." I'm happy to get together a mob of people to go there, probably immediately after one of my UMass Boston classes ends at 6:30 on a Wednesday or a Thursday. Anyone interested? If those times don't work for you I do encourage you to make an appointment on your own by emailing Ami Bennett at ami@space242.com. I am happy to make an appointment for people if you want to go together and stand around talking about them for an hour... does this Thursday work for anyone? Next Wednesday? Let me know. It's by the Broadway T stop; if you were biking from Cambridge I would say take the Longfellow to Cambridge to Congress to Surface to Albany to E Berkeley but there's always more than one way to do these things. (Actually if anyone knows a better bike route, let me know...)
