It turns out that the skill package for high level Magic has a ton of overlap with poker - basically in the area of figuring out what your opponent is likely to have, based on what you've already seen, tells, and statistics. Poker's statistics are easier than Magic's. Also there is some overlap in the area of theory. So a bunch of Pro Tour Magic dudes hopped to poker and did pretty well for themselves.
