I'm almost certain that this quote "ethics can be defined as the study and practice of one's habitat" was cribbed from author Frank Herbert, and was probably attributed to his character Liet-Kynes, a planetary ecologist intent on using a tribal society of nomads to terraform a desert planet. The character is a mouthpiece for many pithy pithy statements on ecology as it relates to sociology.
