Generally I want to watch Boston games (which I can get some of here, but not the nationally televised ones, that is, the ones against teams that are considered contenders), games for the local team (which will all be blocked out), and playoff games (which will all be blocked out after maybe the first round).
Boston has a huge cultural attachment to non-baseball sports, but it's not one that transfers over to people who move here, and (huge generalization ahoy!) nerds like baseball because it is made of numbers. :) I grew up with basketball --- my side job from like 10-16 was running basketball scoreboards, keeping track of stats, announcing games, and so on, and while I have token approval of other Boston teams, basketball's the only sport I really care about.
