Come live with us at the Cathedral of Saint Ursula! We're four women aged 24 to 27 living near Ball Square in Davis around a ten minute walk from the Davis Sqaure T stop. We have an open living room with east-facing windows, a wonderful dining room with mitosis-tending chairs, a pantry, a well-stocked if slightly crowded kitchen, an enclosed porch where we keep the ponies, ample basement storage space, and a bathroom. (Only one, but it's worked fine for the past three years.)

We are vegetarian, vegan, and omnivorous; readers, writers, and gamers; professionals and graduate students; queer (two of us are engaged to each other) and queer-friendly --- and really foo and foo-friendly for most things you might put there; graduates of MIT and Bryn Mawr; clean but not compulsive; and in general just plain awesome. If you are some of these things too, that's awesome. (If you're not, what _do_ you eat?) Oh, and we have a cat. She says "Mrkgnao."

We're happiest with friends or friends of friends, so we'd love recommendations even if you already have housing --- Please link this around!; we're generally most comfortable with other women but would not rule out any other genders. Rent is currently $575/month but that might change for this year; internet and cable are $18/month and utilities tend to run from $50-$100/month. We have laundry (and an arcade machine!) in the basement. The inside of the house has seen better days, but we treat it with love and you can paint your room more or less however you want. We are friends with the downstairs neighbors, and there is potential for off-street parking.

If this sounds good to you, you can comment here or drop me a line at rachel@akrasiac.org, and you can come over and meet us and the house sometime! We expect our room to open up June 1st.

It's only mitosis if you get two, smaller chairs when they split. The ones I've seen were more like differentiation (into a cushion and a piece of ironic abstract art that subverts the paradigm of "sitting on furniture").

I'm glad you appreciate the chairs! Back when I lived there, I certainly brought home "chairs" that subverted the paradigm of sitting, including varieties of "it's broken, but I think we can fix it!"

Oh man. If I were planning to move soon I'd jump at this - as is I expect you'll have some wonderful person sharing your space for a while before I make the leap from Albany to Davis Sq. We have friends in common and I'm in the area every couple of weeks, so hello!

Yeah, the whole "Actually being ready to move" thing is always tricky. :) Feel free to drop me a line the next time you are in town, though!

If I could find a job that paid enough for the rent and utilities...

Unfortunately most of my connections are in the technical sector around here... you could check craigslist in Boston though :)

Well, I'm graduating, and want to stay in the area and work, but am still looking for a job, so I can't really afford to pay rent and all that yet. But if you are still looking for a roommate whenever i become employed, i'll be knocking down your door. :)

You should drop by sometime and talk to us anyway, actually, since I bet your chances of finding a job in the area are reasonably high. You could meet Cassandra! And I'm too old (wow) to have ever actually lived with you so I'd want to ask obligatory lifestyle questions :) Drop me an email sometime?

Who's leaving?

Also, if I weren't all married now I'd ask if I can have my old room back. As it is, though, I think I want to share space with the husbeast.

Liz is moving on to bigger and better things.

I think living with your spouse is perfectly reasonable --- and we won't have two rooms open, unfortunately. :) (also, two couples and one other person might be... odd for whoever else was around)

Neat. Is she off to med school? Or just a new apartment in Camberville?

New apartment a little further out from the city, I think, but I don't think she's picked a place yet.

Well, you've still got a couple of weeks to find a job before we pick someone, probably :P Come visit sometime, regardless!

Wah, I would love to stop by and say hi! I wish I could come live for a bit, but I too has a husbeast (or a fiancebeast?) right near there-- Beacon St-- and I'm poor as poop, so I'll probably just be crashed on his couch for the months of May and June. Good luck with the roommate hunt, though!

....Aaaaaaaaalso, I just realized you guys are the group to ask-- Anyone know of any gaming or animation companies in the area (like, the Boston area, not NYC)? I'd love to do some internship work during May and June, including working totally free like the cheap wetback labor I am. I can animate and draw, and I'm scared about some of the "make us a website" junk on Craigs list. Any one know any names of companies?
