I was going over old games instead of doing work (Yes, Virginia, I really am a workaholic, but at least I am not working _all_ of Christmas day) and I just had to share this one. It was exciting; they had already written down that I had lost on the pairings chart and started distributing prizes based on the assumed outcome of the game. I don't feel totally like I deserve this win, but I played my best and didn't give up, and it worked out. My rating is probably going to go up a lot due to this game; a string of clerical errors causes me to currently have one of three ratings depending on whom you ask when, and I hope to get that fixed soon. If you believe one source, I am a 1628, which somehow I disbelieve. Oh, and I came in second in the U1400 in the American Open in November. Despite playing, in retrospect, horribly. I was told by a grandmaster who was leching on me: "You are an attacking player! But you do not attack. You are an attacking player but you are afraid to attack! You must attack!" I think he was right, so I am now studying _The Art Of Attack In Chess_ by Vukovic. We will see how that goes.

You should all come to this: http://www.hbfoundation.org/gcc/index.shtml Nagle and I are going to go. I am in training; I believe that I can win the U1600 section with concerted effort in the next five months. You can help me train by playing chess with me on AIM, zephyr, or yahoo chess! Or in person! I will teach you things!

The best part is that my analysis (plus gnuchess) suggests that 24. ... Qe2 is either a draw or a very difficult win for me; not at all worth resigning over since he had 25 minutes on the clock and I had 10. I probably would have accepted a draw by perpetual check, which he may have had after 25. Bxb7 Be4+ 26. BxB QxB+. We all make mistakes, though, like me hanging the knight to begin with.

You're right. Either I was using GNUchess incorrectly, or it really, really sucks. Wow.
