...and it's only the very beginning of Sunday!

So my laptop has a new disk and a new keyboard. It feels like a new laptop. What should I install on my new laptop? Is now a good time to bite the bullet and go with Parallels or VMWare Fusion if I want Linux/Windows? Which do I want, if any? Also if I decide to resticker my laptop should I go with a theme other than "sparkly cats?" Or would that not be honest to the source material (that is, I like sparkly cats)?

Also Leopard's Terminal is still only eight colors. Someone Should Be Fired.

I use Parallels. It was pretty painless, but I needed to add more memory to get windows vista to run reasonably in it.

The hipness bar for the Apple Store has been raised? Well, shit, I guess I'm glad I'm probably gonna be getting my new machine by ordering it instead of walking into the store - sales tax and all.

Condolences on the dataloss.

Also sparkly cats are a perfectly fine thing to decorate one's computer with!

Well, I mean, they'll let you _in_ however you look. But wow, I didn't fit in; I recommend just ordering it (Amazon often has them a bit cheaper) unless you can get an educational discount or something. (I got mine at the UMass Boston bookstore.) You might have a sufficient amount of different hipness (awesome socks!) to pull it off. "I am an _artist_, here to purchase a _Macintosh._"

It's a good thing that they finished the laptop on time, or I might have gone and bought a new outfit to fit in with as well... Nick described it last night as "intentionally allowing the mall to take me hostage," which I think is a pretty apt description. It was fun! Sort of. :)

Yeah, I'm mostly thinking of ordering it just to avoid sales tax - no educational discount here, school is longer ago than I want to admit. Still debating exactly what I want, but 2 of my 3 possibilities are build-to-order, which means Apple's about my only choice.

Malls can stress me out but eeevery now and then it can be fun to wander around and, well, get stuff!
