I second the aquarium. Centennial Olympic Park is kind of nice if the weather is nice. I have fond memories of the Stone Mountain laser shows, but you may be squicked by the giant bas-reliefs of Confederate generals on the side of Stone Mountain, and IIRC the laser show has some sappy patriotic songs (e.g. "Proud to be an American"). I remember Zoo Atlanta being pretty good.
Underground Atlanta has a bunch of shopping and nightlife. Little Five Points is the artsy/liberal/LBGT district of Atlanta.
