May 17th, Sassafrass is having a concert at 4:30 PM in Harvard Square. Sassafrass includes a whole bunch of my friends who you might know, including [livejournal.com profile] gaudior , [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks , [livejournal.com profile] weirdquark , [livejournal.com profile] occultatio , [livejournal.com profile] tiamat360 , [livejournal.com profile] faerieboots , [livejournal.com profile] lignota , and [personal profile] aurelia_star . gaudior asked me to let people know about it, so, I think you should go! I've actually never heard them and am sort of excited about hearing them for the first time at the concert, but you can check them out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Irsy55kwvf4 if you want to see what you're getting into. Under the cut you'll find the advertising text they've written up for themselves; if you're coming, [livejournal.com profile] eredien  and I will be at table 15 if you want to reserve space nearby.

Mixing medieval harmonics with modern energy, the sound of Sassafrass
is unlike anything you?ve heard before. The (nearly) all-female a
cappella group?s pieces combine unusual and stunning close harmonies
with lyrics and themes inspired by folklore, fantasy and ancient myth.

Intrigued? Come hear for yourself! In their Club Passim concert,
Sassafrass will perform everything from folk songs from nonexistent
cultures to a duet on the nature of magic dragons to the autobiography
of a mad scientist to a mock-operatic rendition of the Balder murder
cycle from Norse myth. Written and performed by area geeks, the music
is sure to reverse your polarity!
