To paraphrase David Foster Wallace, "it is like I am on acid that has itself dropped acid."

Date: 2010-09-30 02:41 am (UTC)The thing I linked to is a peer-reviewed journal article... about Pokemon interpreted through the lens of these texts, done up as a self-conscious playful hypertext thingamabob, before Web 2.0 when that sort of thing would not be exciting. It's hilarious because it's this crazy French philosophy about how God is a lobster and we should try to make ourselves into bodies without organs... juxtaposed with Pokemon, and using Pokemon as a way to explore capitalist structures and oppression. It's also awesome because of the interview with Bulbasaur (http://www.rhizomes.net/issue5/poke/bulbasaur.html). Keep in mind, this is a peer-reviewed paper that this author has on his CV still today. <3
